After buying and reading the book of Marcus Hutter upon Artificial Universal Intelligence, i discovered the work of Shane Legg ( although under the supervision of Marcus Hutter ) : Machine Super Intelligence ( also a free download ). I consider the work of Marcus and Shabe very interesting, considering the possible outcome of the theories summed not only in his book, but in all his articles. He talks basically about an agent, which is capable of learning, or taking decision based on previous predictions of past actions. The whole is based on the theories and results from Ray Solomonoff, which researched and developed the Algorithmic Probability. One interesting point was that, in order to work, it nears the limits of computability. Which given the huge time span between the first theory and today, we could solve it with the new raw power ( especially from the GPUs).
So, i really recomend this books for a good lecture on Artificial Universal Intelligence, Solomonoff’s theories, Kolmogorov complexity and many interesting philosofical questions on what is intelligence.
I discovered a (almost) name sake that seems to be interested in genetic programming. His name is John Koza. I find intriguing that he uses FPGAs and genetic algorithms, I had this idea some time long ago, but it was mainly to create hardware pattern cells ( a piece of circuitry that selects a part of input and programms itself or gives command to programm to recognize this pattern). I wonder if a genetic algorithm cand be brought to create something like this.
I am now involved in developing trustyou.com.
The old news were:
I am working in some projects right now, mostly Linux based. The idea behind this projects, not named yet, is to improve user experience, by providing user-friendly tools to support new technologies on Linux: installing random software, desktop searching tool, etc.
This site is now unofficially in development, i will update it with a better design any time soon and as it is ready to ship.
The “new” news are:
I decided to make it a web log. I also choose the tag line to be “Life Technology. Technology of Life” because i will mainly want to write about genetics, AI and simple technologies that make our life ( IT life too ) easier. And I am still working for Linux based projects.
